On this week's Economic Update, Prof. Richard Wolff presents updates on major troubles (Brexit, Trump, etc.), student debt penalty, New York billionaires ask to be taxed, Trump's job fantasies, Seattle's official renters commission, age discrimination. The second half of the show is dedicated to major discussions on (1) the economics of immigration, and (2) how worker coops differ from capitalist corporations on where and how to produce.

    Medicare for all. We can use the ‘economy of scale’, spread the risk, and bring down costs, especially prescriptions, testing and care. Reducing the military budget by just 10% can make the program viable for all. Healthcare is an inherent right, not a privilege.

    We only hear about undocumented immigrants being deported, never about the employers having to answer for illegal hiring. Part of the reason is that undocumented workers have to show false documents to be hired, including false social security numbers. They have money deducted for social security, which is paid in, but the worker will never see any of it.
