Marxism for this Moment
A conversation with Richard Wolff & David Harvey
Marxism is essential to understanding capitalism- but many don’t know what Marxism is or how it could inspire a better world. To help spread Democracy at Work’s message that we can do better than capitalism, we’re hosting a ticketed fundraising event on November 18th when Richard Wolff and David Harvey will discuss the power of Marxism for this moment.
Friday, November 18th
1pm - 2:30pm ET (New York, UTC -4)
This is a ticketed, virtual event fundraiser to support Democracy at Work. By purchasing a ticket, you will help d@w create more free shows and resources that analyze the systemic problem of capitalism and advocate for democratizing workplaces as part of the solution.
Richard Wolff is a globally known Marxist economist whose provocative and educational weekly show Economic Update has run for over 10 years. Author of several books including Understanding Marxism, his unique solution of workplace democracy puts Marx’s criticism of capitalism into a real-world, simple example is a powerful message that has influenced millions.
David Harvey is the foremost Marxist thinker about political economy and has been teaching Karl Marx's Capital for over 40 years. He writes and speaks about the significance of Marx for understanding contemporary capitalism in more than 20 books and in his popular podcast Anti-Capitalist Chronicles.
This will be a critical conversation for anyone interested in Marxism’s usefulness today, between two experts with long histories of applying Marx’s ideas to our current politics in insightful and educational ways.
With the help of this fundraiser, Democracy at Work will invest in publishing educational, accessible books about capitalism, Marxism and socialism, develop new media that inspires people to do better than capitalism, and become a more innovative resource for anyone looking to start worker co-operatives and build a more democratic economy.
If you cannot make the live event but want to support d@w, please purchase a ticket anyway and we will send you access to the event recording.
While live translation won’t be available during the event, we will do our best to provide a translated transcript to event attendees. Once you purchase your ticket, write to us and we will work to accommodate your needs.
