In my opinion, one of the strongest arguments I hear from Prof. Wolff is that decisions are made better when they are made democratically. I think talking about “what you would do about Mr. Bezos” turns a lot of people off who might otherwise be intrigued by these sort of ideas.

Samuel Morin, I can feel where you’re coming from because I want to defend Professor Wolff, too, from know-nothing imbeciles — BUT — I think it’s imperative that Professor Wolff continues these types of interviews. He knows his stuff backwards-and-forwards and, therefore can maintain his calm as an intellect. He doesn’t sweat this stuff. If anything, because he’s confident with his knowledge, he makes the smug know-it-alls appear economically illiterate, which they are. We need more mainstream interviews with Professor Wolff. He’s no wallflower. He’ll create more interest in researching Marxism. You can’t understand Capitalism without studying Socialism — primarily Marx. Professor Wolff is superbly apt at getting that message out to the masses.

Most excellent, though where is the part about Venezuela?

I think you should avoid this type of interview. These people are not journalist, they are just relay for the government propaganda to serve their politics and interests. They are not interested in what you have to say they just want to put you down. Because time is so short you cannot develop your thinking and educate the listener, the only thing allowed is to agree with the general line of thinking. Just a waste of time.

Interviews like this are sometimes called ‘stacking.’
When a progressive is on conservative TV, the host will attempt to ‘stack’ the airtime.
The conservatives over-talks the progressive. The conservatives get most of the airtime. One-on-one debates are turned into three or four conservatives ‘stacked’ against one progressive.

It is extremely difficult to maintain your composure when scoffed at by a person of bad manners. Well done Prof!. One of the key requirements to attract people to Marxism is fraternity. Put it another way friendship….show love and welcome your brother.

Excellent job, Professor! Bravo for remaining calm and rational under this MTV barrage of rightwing questioning. If you could post the segment on Venezuela, that’d be great.

Thanks Professor Wolff. I think any Fox News listener would have to question, as you said why the current system is not working for THEM. I’m surprised the questioner let you say so many obvious truths without cutting you off. Excellent job!

Excellent commentary, Prof. Wolff! You were as calm and cool as a cucumber relaying your knowledge to Varney — who was a smug as Fox commentators are known for being. I had the pleasure of meeting you up in Toronto at the Marx Collegium, and getting a hug from you as we both traveled up from the States and had flight delays (as always from the U.S. airlines!). Thanks so much for having such a great demeanor in this interview with Varney who was clearly not on your side. BRAVO Sir!!!

Great interview, Prof. Wolff is outstanding when dealing with difficult people, and nobody is more difficult to deal w than Stuart Varney!

The interviewer is by admission someone whose like many of us are greeted with frequently: the changed (wo)man. Once ‘liberal’ or utopia-for-real—invariably younger collegers—who saw the light. Perhaps they did some political work. Power, position, wealth to them aren’t carried by workers in overalls but capitalists in silk ties and panties. A book on these switcheroos I’d like to read—not write.

A basic reality of human-beings is, “they don’t remember what you say so much, but rather, they remember how you made them feel” A quote from ~ Maya Angelou. I very much appreciated the Prof. Wolff didn’t get flustered or reactive to this COMPLETE BOZO!!! I would of ;^)!!!! Way to go P. Wolff! Another basic reality of human-beings. . . They get AFRAID when they sense their point of view, position, or team is LOOSING!!! And Capitalism is LOOSING!!! It’s only a matter of time. “The moral arc of the Universe is long, but it bends towards Justice” ! MLK Jr.. There will be no Social Justice until we have Economic Justice, and people are waking up to that FACT! ONWARDS!

Great job Professor Wolff! I wish you were on every day — the ‘mainstream media’ desperately needs a voice like yours!

Also I don’t like how every conservative pundit like Varney here always laser focuses on how Socialism will take money away from the poor oppressed multi-millionaire/billionaire. Anyone who is doing there best, like Prof. Wolff was here, to get people to see the wider social/economic impacts of letting a small group of ultra-wealthy individuals hoard the wealth generated by the mass of workers, they get redirected by these narrow minded Varney types that can only think in individual terms. It really is like they are speaking two different languages. The conservatives simply refuse to think in terms other than only for themselves. Thus Capitalism is the perfect system for personal greed & selfishness.

Also this super-concise format doesn’t give the time needed for Prof. Wolff to make a strong case that these shareholders & CEOs are not the one’s “working hard” to make all that wealth. IT’S THE THOUSANDS OF WORKERS WHO WORK HARD TO MAKE ALL THE WEALTH. The major shareholder had his hedge fund manager buy the shares years ago and he monitors its progress and collects a dividend. Capitalism = Exploitation.

I saw the following morning when they did show a short clip of Prof. Wolff’s comments on Venezuela. They deliberately brought on this guy whose name escapes me to attempt to refute everything that Prof. Wolff said. He started off by saying “what Prof. Wolff DOESN’T UNDERSTAND IS THAT” and proceeded to regurgitate the standard conservative free market capitalist stereotype of what they see in their extremely narrow perspective what Socialism is, simply that the State run economy is responsible for the Venezuelan breakdown. His whole attitude was that Prof. Wolff was somehow nieve, miseducated or succumbed to silly ideas.
I wished Prof. Wolff was there that morning to harpoon that yes man stooge. I hope that Prof. Wolff uses this incident in his next monthly Global Capitalism lecture to prove, in the brilliant and thorough way he does best, how the situation in Venezuela was not brought about only because it had Socialist influences, but because of several other vitally important factors, many of which have to do with global Capitalist Free Market economics, particularly in the oil & energy sector.

What happened to the Venezuelan segment? I would have liked to hear your comments on that Professor Wolff… since there is nothing but capitalist (and right-wing) propaganda coming from US based media on Venezuela.
