HOST BIO - DAVID COBB

David Cobb

Raised in the rural south, David grew up in poverty, worked construction, and was a deckhand before he began Jr. College. He got his start in organizing in the 80s as part of the student anti-apartheid movement and has the arrest record to prove it. A self-described “people’s lawyer,” David has sued corporate polluters, lobbied elected officials, run for political office himself, helped to co-create the Wiyot Tribe’s Dishgamu Community Land Trust, and worked as a tribal government employee where he successfully facilitated multiple private and public Land Back projects as well as initiated several multi-million dollar housing projects for the Tribe. Davis also serves as Co-Coordinator of the US Solidarity Economy Network and is on staff with the People’s Network for Land & Liberation. David ran for Attorney General of Texas in 2002, and was the Green Party nominee for President in 2004. His demands for recounts in multiple states helped to launch the election integrity movement that ended the advance of electronic (black box) voting systems. David also served as campaign manager for the Jill Stein/Ajamu Baraka presidential campaign in 2016, and was a co-founder of Cooperation Humboldt in 2018. Shane was responsible for creating the video version of “Economic Update with Richard Wolff,” which he also directed, produced, and edited for nearly seven years.
