CO-HOST BIO - SHANE KNIGHT

Shane Knight

Born in New Orleans to a face he’s never seen, Shane Knight spent his childhood in the wilds of southwestern Mississippi, the adopted son of a Baptist preacher and an elementary school teacher. He spent his high school years in central Mississippi, where he found his way out by joining the United States Marine Corps. After his time in the Marines, Shane co-owned and operated an antique automotive restoration business while also working at Red Lobster and pursuing his undergraduate degree. He went on to earn his Masters Degree in advertising at Virginia Commonwealth University’s “Brand Center.” He then spent the next ten-plus years working in the ad biz as a creative writer & art director. During that time, he became involved with Democracy at Work—a 501(c)(3) non-profit in New York City that produces progressive, entertaining, and educational media designed to challenge capitalism. Shane was responsible for creating the video version of “Economic Update with Richard Wolff,” which he also directed, produced, and edited for close to seven years. Throughout his time at Democracy at Work, Shane has also worked to help other men understand the oppression of the societal & cultural systems in place that wreak havoc on American men's interpersonal, familial, and professional lives.
