d@w-NYC Monthly Group Meeting
This is an independent event hosted by a d@w Action Group. Please direct all questions to the contact listed below.
We took on some heady questions for the left and the coop movement including: the Black Worker Movement for Economic Justice and Coops, Organized Labor and Coops, the Left's relationship to the next more democratic economic system, currently being built from the ground up as Worker/Owner Cooperatives.
The Conversation at d@w-NYC begins with a recognition that while we all have real lives trapped inside a terminal Capitalist economic system that can never be reformed enough to provide a fair shake for working people cradle to grave, we are in a period where pioneering workers and an array of professional supports have been building more than 60 Worker/Owner Cooperative businesses across New York City;
We believe that these Worker/Owner Coops and the hundreds more across the United States and their much larger cousins in Mondragon, Spain and Bologna, Italy, and all over the world, are the building blocks for a new system.
Join us Wednesday June 21 7:00 PM at The Brooklyn Commons as we meet with Evan Casper-Futterman of the Cooperative Economics Alliance of New York City (CEANYC), which just produced, The Directory of New York City Coops.
Find a place for your interests through our Committee work. Mostly come and breathe the fresh air of a group focused on helping build the new more democratic Economy. Dreamers and the rest of you are welcome.
